I was looking through the textbook and it mentions a Study Skills Workbook. Do I need this? I've not seen this anywhere; where would I get it if I need it?

Also, I have yet to find the DVT's. Do I really need them? I would need the 7th edition. Ecampus.com lists them, but says there are none available. I tried to buy the 8th ed from Half.com marketplace, but I never received them (got a refund). So I'm not having much luck. Do I really need them? I'm ready to give up looking.

Thanks!

Jak

We've used several levels of Lial's and never used the Study Skills Workbook. There are plenty of problems in the text.

We do have the DVTs. I don't think they have to match the edition of the text very closely. The DVT uses different example problems. One of my students used the DVTs about half the time, the other student doesn't use them at all. I think it varies with the personality of the student. However, when the student hits a snag, they are really nice to have. If you don't have the DVTs, then make sure you have the Student Solutions Manual. With that you may not need the DVts unless your student really needs/want a visual component.

The current edition of Intermediate Algebra is the 10th. The 8th edition is still available from publisher--but not for much longer.

There was NOT a 9th edition of the Paperback Developmental Intermediate Algebra--beginning with the 10th they updated and combined BOTH of the Algebra series by Margaret Lial into one text. The 10th edition does boast some nice features--but I have not seen it yet.

The 8th editions of the DVTs will work just fine with the 7th edition book. VERY VERY minor differences between these editions (many pages are the same) I have both texts.

I own the DVTs but my dd's have not used them yet--I have one going into Intermediate this summer--she 'might' use them. Most of my tutoring students did NOT use the DVTs. (But for $30 it is a nice back up feature).
