My older ds (age 16) will probably be taking a course in American Lit from our umbrella school. The first novel they will read is The Scarlet Letter. This is a book that I struggled through in high school myself, as well as a few years ago when I tackled it with my older dd's when they hit high school. It was just as dreadful the second time through! My ds is NOT a fast reader. I know that he will not enjoy this book, so I'd like to find a great audio reading of it for him to listen to as he reads it. I think that will make a BIG difference for him. The classes don't start until September, but why wait? http://www.thehomeschoollibrary.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Does anyone have any suggestions about a great reading with a very lively, or animated narrator? (just fyi- we have an audio of Huckleberry Finn read by Patrick Fraley that we just adore!! He does ALL the voices/accents and makes the book really come alive! That's the type of thing we're looking for with The Scarlet Letter--does it exist??)
