One of my brothers' best friend was killed last week in a head-on collision with a drunk driver. The friend was driving a small car and the drunk driver was driving a SUV. The drunk swerved into the friend's lane and hit him head-on. His blood alcohol level was .14. I think the DWI level is .08. Anyhow, the friend's spinal cord was broken and he died instantly. Unfortunately his two little girls were also in the car. They were both in their car seats. One is just fine but the one sitting behind her father is badly injured. The car was accordeoned so badly that the father landed on top of the daughter and her pelvis was badly damaged. She can not walk and is in the Children's Hospital in Dallas.
The friend was a single father. The mother is a drug addict and alcoholic and in no condition to care for the children. Unfortunately there is no one else to care for the children and she will get custody of them. We are all very worried about this.
The funeral is today and two of my brothers will be pole bearers. We have known this person for 15 years. I just saw him and his children when I was home for mom's funeral.
Please pray, send well wishes or positive thoughts for these children that the one will heal and be able to walk and that the mother will straighten out and be able to care for them. Also for my family who has already had to do so much grieving already this year. Thanks so much.
