This is a friend on my dh's. He is in another state and probably wouldn't appreciate flowers and can't have food or alcohol obviously. What do you send a man in this case?

He really wouldn't appreciate flowers? To me the thought would be nice. What about a nice card? Or..how about some magazines.

Does he read? books or magazines. If you know he has a special interest, you could go to one of the bookstores and get him some specialized magazines.

How about an electronic game, like Solitaire or Backgammon. My step-father enjoyed these a lot when he was sick with cancer.

I second something to read or a hand-held game. It gets boring in the hospital and afterwards he will probably have to take time off and rest.:001_smile:

Does he have an iPod? A coworker of dh's had a stroke a couple months ago and they took up a collection to get him an iPod and lots of folks brought in cd's to upload.
If he has an iPod, then you could get a gift card for music.
