My ninth grader is finishing up Vol. 1 of the LRTEG and I'm trying to decide whether to continue with Vol. 2 this fall or to switch to Wheelock's. Cost is not a big factor here. What I'm looking for is an emphasis on Christian Medieval Latin that Dorothy Sayers talked about in her essay, The Lost Tools of Learning. Wheelocks has a lot of samples from the classical period for translation practice while LRTEG seems to use less of them and more of the author's own sentences. Vol. 2 might have more of the original Latin though. But which program has more translation work from the medieval writers? Does anyone know?
