Wheelock's and High School credit?

If a student completed 1/2 of Wheelock's one year and finished it the next year, would you consider that enough for 2 high school language credits (one credit for each year)? Or would you only count it as one language credit for completing the entire text (1/2 credit each year)?

Yes, you should give two full high school credits for finishing Wheelock's.

Absolutely! Completing it all in a year would be what occurs at the college level and there are some syllabi out there that break Wheelock's down into two full years of high school credit. MOther of Divine GRace which is a regionally accredited school does this.

Here is the answer (http://www.wheelockslatin.com/lafleur.htm) given by the editor of the current edition of Wheelocks. (You'll need to scroll down the page to the Frequently Asked Questions section -- you'll find the editor states that 20 chapters of Wheelock is equivalent to one year of high school Latin.)

Keep in mind that Wheelocks is a college level textbook. College students take 2 semesters to finish the book.

I cannot fathom having to complete the entire text in a year! Whew.

One credit per year. Wheelock's is worth 2 HS credits.
