View Full Version : A Canada trade board?

I would love to see a Canadian sub-board. I'd rather pay for something that's already in Canada, than have to ask a US person to deal with the Post Office.
I just recently tried to get something from the US, but with 24$ shipping cost, it made no sense. (and that's the USPS cost, not the lady doing an outrageous profit!)
Yet, to spot something on the For Sale board that's already in Canada is hard. It's getting lost among all the US stuff.
I think there's just enough Canadians on the board here to make a "Canadian Trading Board" interesting. (FS and WTB together)

Hi Cleo, Have you heard of the homeschoolerhaven yahoo group?
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/homeschoolerhaven/ It is Canadian and email based.

I agree that we should have a separate board. It is difficult to even figure out the exchange rate, let alone the shipping cost!

There is a yahoo group for Cdn buying and selling Cdn materials:

I agree with you that it would be great to also have one here.

I, too, would love a Canadian board.

:iagree: I mean, it doesn't mean it would have to be complete segregation: US folks could still purchase our stuff, we could still purchase US stuff... but it would simplify things.

Does anyone know of any Cdn boards? I'm done homeschooling after 10 yrs and have a ton of stuff; because of the cost of shipping I would like to sell as much as possible on Canada first. I have listed on the yahoo board that I know of, but I can't find any more. Anyone here know of any?

We are getting ready to move from Texas to Calgary and my friends up there keep telling me how expensive it is to ship stuff. A Canadian sell/swap board would be wonderful.

It's been so long since I visited these boards. I like how they are set up now! My daughter is now finishing up college and my son is in gr. 11. I have things for sale I will post in due time. Nice to see some familiar people here.
Bye for now! (P.S. I will try these yahoo groups, but I hate using Yahoo. I don't know why, but it intimidates me....):001_unsure:

I prefer to sell and buy in Canada, but I have found shipping to be expensive in Canada which makes it hard to sell things. I have tried to sell things locally but have never had much success with that.
We go the US often to buy grocery items that aren't available so it is often easier to order things shipped to the border town which has at least half a dozen mail depots. If I can't sell things in Canada, I will sell and ship in the US.

I'm in a border city, so up until recently I would have pkgs shipped to my friend in the US and pick them up from her, and I would mail pkgs. over there as well. However, now that I need a passport to cross I won't be able to do that anymore.

A swap board for Canada would be great! Yes, shipping is expensive here in Canada, but it's cheaper than have having something sent from the U.S.
