How do I shut down dh's laptop? It has locked up!

While I was at dh's office this afternoon, he had to leave for an appointment, and he asked me to shut down his laptop & bring it home with me. I tried to shut it down with the Start menu as usual: Click "Start: Shut Down: Okay". But it locked up on the screen that says, "Windows is shutting down". CTRL+ALT+DELETE does nothing. Pressing the power button does nothing. It is running on battery. Do I just have to wait until the battery dies?

Did you press and hold the power button for a greater length of time or just a quick press? I would try pushing and holding for a while -- 15 seconds maybe?

Yeah, my computer seems like I have to hold down the power button forever when it is locked. Glad you got it shut down!
