The last movie by myself? Hmmm, it's been a while but it was either Pride & Prejudice (which I absolutely love) or The Devil Wears Prada (which I hated).

Okay, movie "Music & Lyrics". As a wanna be singer, I loved it.

Miss Potter - I don't really know if I liked it or not.:confused1:

I have some sort of insomnia, so I'm usually up late at night watching DIY Network, Food Network, Discovery, Discovery Health or one of the History channels. Maybe I should watch a new movie tonight.

I must admit to some curiousity here.

I thought this was a fun topic and gave it a 5-star rating.

One other person came and apparently thought it was a terrible thread and rated it very low, bringing it down to a 3-star rating.

Why?

Why would a thread about movies bother someone so much? Is it our choice of movies? Or the entertainment industry in general? What gives here?

Why is this not a good thread? I truly want to understand.

I think the last movie I watched was Sweeny Todd.

There's one scene where Johnny Depp and Alan Rickman are singing together and my mind just sees Captain Jack singing to Professor Snape. Had to rewind the movie a couple of times to get what was actual happening.

No way! Me, too! Seven Years in Tibet, on Netflix.

Did you cry? I cried when the Chinese sacked the village. I ended up staying up late googling things about Tibet.

Nat Geo just recently (I can't remember what issue) did a story on Tibet.

The whole thing is just so sad and so very, very cruel.

I have to retract my previous movie. It was "One Fine Day" with Geoge Clooney. I was feeling bad the other day and laid in bed and watched it all alone. I have a sentimental love for that movie as dh and I were watching it when I went into labor with ds.

I've also watched The Wedding Planner (I love, love, love to watch Matthew McConaughey) and the last 2 rentals I've watched alone (dh didn't want to watch) Freedom Writers and We Are Marshall.

... when I get a chance to watch a movie alone, it's usually something with Sean Bean in it. :001_tt1: But that's just me. Aside from that, hmmmm . . . have you ever seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or The Virgin Suicides? These (especially the latter) might not be to everyone's tastes, but I liked them. They're very different, from each other I mean, and both a little . . . well just different!

I don't watch movies too often, but when I do, I almost always watch alone. Last week I watched ~ and adored ~ "Once". What a fabulous film! Best thing I've seen in a long while. Ridiculous that it's rated R. Apparently movies containing the word f--- earn a more stringent rating than do movies in which people act like they're going to f---.

Ooh, I'm so excited to have found another Sean Bean fan!!! :D I have one friend who likes him too, but everyone else says "who?". Have you seen any of his older stuff? I really like him as Richard Sharpe, even though that series was so low-budget and cheesy in some ways (but still fun) -- he made it work! And I absolutely adored him in Lady Chatterley with Joely Richardson. But, not knowing what your sensibilities are on this issue, I should warn you that that's the kind of movie that would have caused my Mom to leap up from the couch declaring "too raunchy!" and turning off the tv -- and that's only in the first half! ;) Can't wait to see him as Macbeth -- that news made my day!

Yay, we've got our own little Sean Bean fan club going here. :001_smile: I read all the Sharpe books because of that series too! Ok, not all. I'm currently in Sharpe's Siege and I think that Sharpe's Revenge is the last one after that. I'll be sad to see it come to an end, but I'm also looking forward to the part where he ditches that little ____ of a cheating, thieving wife and has a happily ever after with Lucile. At least I think it's "ever after"?

Maybe the movie is better than the book, but I wouldn't have blamed you for just wanting to skip it. After all of the Jane Austen raves on here, I just read Sense & Sensibility... at least I found a cure for my insomnia. :001_smile:

Gone Baby Gone in the fall time. I don't usually see movies alone though I do watch tv alone a lot. My husband didn't want to ee it since he thought it would be depressing. It was but also very thoughprovoking.

Sometimes someone watches Dr. G with me or Medical Mysteries but often they don't. I also watch some political shows they don't Fox NewsWatch, Beltway Boys, etc. They watch plenty that I don't. Dopey vulgar comedies, woodworking shows, history programs, science other than weather or criminal science shows, etc, etc.

My husband picked it up for me. When I started the dvd, I thought that I was having a nightmare...Where have I seen this before?

Rewind...I saw this movie when it first came out, and I found it to be incredibly boring. I think it was so bad that I repressed the memory of seeing it and, thus, forgot I even saw it.

Sorry, all you Become Jane fans!
