I found a sleep-away camp that if it weren't sleep-away, my dd would do in a heartbeat. But when I told her it was sleep-away, she got tears in her eyes and started to struggle not to cry!
She loves the idea of the camp but doesn't want to leave us.
Any advice?
BTW, she is 14 and it is for 5 nights.

Has she spent any time away from home before? Maybe she could try spending a few nights w/a grandparent or someone first? I know that's not the same as camp. I first went to sleepover camp at about her age..I loved the camp but at night I got soooo homesick. For the first week. After the first week, I felt better and didn't want to leave! (It was a 2 wk session) Does she have a good friend that might want to go with her?

Thanks, Jen.
Besides sleepovers, she has gone to several weekend camps w/her scout troop. She knows everyone there, so she has that comfort. Plus, that is only 2 nights and 1 hour away.
This camp is 5 nights and is about 4 hours away. It is a meteorology camp...I think we're lucky it's so close. But she won't know anyone and no one wants to go with her (what is wrong with them :001_smile: who wouldn't love meteorology camp!!!)
Thanks again!
