Current events resources for middle school?

I really like Student News Daily (http://www.studentnewsdaily.com/) but it's a little advanced for my 6th grader. Do you know of anything similar for younger kids?

Have you checked out CNN Student news (http://www.cnn.com/studentnews/). They have a daily podcast that can be downloaded.

I have found that they cover the big issues and some lighter fun issues for kids. The big issues are handled in a way that the children can understand what is going on, but not be weighed down by them.
