The yurt post got me thinking...

I'm brainstorming here (look out!)... Dh and I have about 6 acres of wooded beachfront property about 1 1/2 hrs from our home.

I wonder if we could put a yurt on it? And, I wonder if we could rent out that yurt? Does this sound at all feasible? A relative has a beautiful beach house on the adjacent lot that he rents out for big $$. Our yurt would be unseen, so that's not an issue, just some extra background info. The whole area is wooded and virtually untouched. Hmmmm.... Any thoughts? A yurt would be something we could afford.

I've looked into building a yurt and living in it. DH shot that idea down quick. Yurts.com is a great site and will give you an idea about pricing and such. They supply you the plans and materials and you do the building. Some of them are pretty extravagant and you can add yurts to yurts to make separate rooms. The price is pretty resonable too.

We have several lovely yurts on the beach nearest us, and they are available for rent. I think it is a lovely idea. You can make them be as nice or as rustic as you like. Pacific Yurts (the yurts.com site mentioned by K.A.A) makes the ones that we rent.
