She has never been the type to put things in her mouth, so number one I am really confused why or how she even thought to do it. We're at my parent's house, and she went upstairs to our bathroom, got up to the counter, opened my lens case and ate one. Actually, she took a bite out of one, I have a lens that looks like a cookie with a segment missing. She then promptly came downstairs to tell me she "ate a blue ball", which obviously took me a while to try and figure out what she was talking about. I finally grew concerned when she said it was something of mine that was in the bathroom.

I went to one of those chain vision centers near our house; apparently, since my prescription is over 2 yrs old they can't just refill it, and I don't have all the information about it (like brand, etc.) to just order it online. So I'm looking at about $300 to get new ones, at least from this place; and a two week wait, because I use gas perm lenses and they don't keep those they have to be custom made.

My mom keeps telling me that this will be funny in a month or so, but it's hard envisioning being at that place right now...

Fantastic!

Wow! We have lost many, many, many...but never had one eaten! Ds has worn contacts since he was six months, so I guess it is amazing that he didn't ever eat one!

It is so frustrating to wait though. Ds's have to be made each time as well, and it takes weeks to get them. We used to have to alternate eyes with the remaining lens when that happened.

I remember that my 2 y/o dd (now 15) once "helped" me wash my contacts. Right down the sink, she helped them. On the same day, she "helped" her grandpa crash his computer and "helped" us find out how helpful the ER doc and nurses were.

It really is funny now, but it sure wasn't that day. I vote you keep the little "cookie" lens and put it in the baby book.

When I was a teen I went on a trip with a bunch of other teens (supervised). I lost my contact case and put my lenses into two glasses of water for the night. One of my friends forgot in the middle of the night and drank one of my lenses! Like you I have gas perm lenses, and my prescription is pretty specialized, so it was a month before I had a new one. Ugh!
