by Deborah Gray (Grey?), and a book called Holding Time. Ignore the fact that the author promotes Holding Time as a cure for autism. Also, there's some good stuff on attachment issues at attach-china.org.

My favorite book for a good introduction to adoption, its terminology, and its players is Adoption Nation by Adam Pertman. Pertman used to be a newspaper reporter and is now the Director of the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute. The book is easy to read and also discusses the different paths to adoption (private domestic, international, public adoption).
Good luck.
