I am so sick of eggs!! Dd is too. We dont want to eat bacon or sausage everyday either. I want a protein for breakfast as well as a starch. I'm also flat out of ideas. Dd drinks a protein shake along with her starch, but I dont particularly like protein drinks. And the idea of grilled chicken isnt very appealing either. So, any great - and hopefully easy - breakfast ideas out there??

We are more for oatmeal, cream of wheat, muffins with fruit and homemade granola with yogurt; not sure if any of those appeal to you. Eggs are more of an occasional, once a week breakfast or lunch. Our most satisfying breakfast is granola and yogurt, lasts until lunch even if we are particularly active that morning.

I find that a bowl of oatmeal (not instant) with fruit, milk, and maybe nuts but no sugar feels like a protein breakfast (in terms of how I feel afterwards). That's what I eat when I get sick of eggs.
Hardboiled eggs instead of scrambled is also a nice change.
Have you tried a homemade protein shake with frozen fruit, milk, yogurt, and protein powder?

When we visit Turkey, the breakfast is invariably tomatoes, white cheese, cucumbers, olives, fruit and bread. It look me a while to get used to olives and cheese for breakfast, but hey, why not! Certainly healthy and low-cost.

There are many bean and rice dishes that are good for breakfast. The spicing is what makes them good. And by using left-over beans and rice, they're fast and easy. Cheese is a nice accompiment

You know, even when I was a vegetarian, I was consuming enough protein everyday. Protein doesn't have to come from meat sources.
Milk is an excellent source of protein as well.
Infact, the two scrambled eggs I had last night for dinner had the same amount of protein as the oatmeal and glass of milk combined -- 15 each.
Two slices of whole wheat bread have the same amount of protein as one 8 ounce glass of milk.
The Kashi and almond ceral I make (I mix three Kashi cereals I get at BJ's Wholesale together with a ton of sliced almonds) gives me 14 grams of protein without the cup of milk I use. Add the milk, and the breakfast has 22 grams of protein.

I also love smoothies. My favorite combines a frozen banana, 2 tablespoons of oats ground in food processor, unsweetened chocolate almond beverage and some ice.
You can add peanut butter to it for a chocolate/peanut butter flavor, or serve it with peanut butter toast as mentioned above.

One of my favorite breakfasts is toasting a whole grain waffle, spreading peanut or sunflower butter on it, topping with sliced bananas and sprinkling maple sugar on top. DELISH!

I'm mildly obsessed with them. Can't stand the Kashi cereal with "fiber puffs," but the others are yummy and full of fiber and protein and other good stuff.

Bill Cosby would suggest chocolate cake! I'm with him! :tongue_smilie:
No, really...
Yogurt and granola, oatmeal, Fresh fruit and toast, soft or hard boiled eggs (not sure which way you normally eat them), cold cereal (though the healthy choices are so expensive now days.)

This is my favorite during the hot summer month.
Also cottage cheese and whole wheat toast on the side
grilled cheese
English muffin pizzas
Try altering the protien shake by adding yogert, frozen fruit, peanut butter etc. One of my favorite breakfasts is ww english muffin with lf cheese and canadian bacon and sometimes scrambled eggs.

Try thinking of anything but breakfast. Left overs can be nice in the morning. I agree with the other that protein doesn't have to be in the form of meat or eggs. Getting bored with the same old thing happens around here too. We try other things and a few of our stand by options are.
A few of our favorites are
Trail mix
oatmeal
pbj
yogurt with granola
super pancakes with wheat germ topped with fruit
quiche
omelets
Toasted wheat bread with anything on it
Sandwiches are quick and easy.
bagels with cream cheese
A good cereal and milk. That Kashi stuff is pretty yummy.
Cheese Croissants
Muffins! Oat bran, Oatmeal, Blueberry, you name it.
This is probably higher on the carb side, but with eggs and milk, it has protein too! :)
We love Overnight French Toast (http://dawn.homeschooljournal.net/2008/01/23/easy-overnight-french-toast/)! :D

. . . the most common breakfast foods are frozen potato patties, oatmeal made with soy milk and wheat germ (both of which are high in protein), toast with peanut butter, waffles (again with soy milk and wheat germ in the batter), biscuits. All of these get served either with a glass of soy milk (more protein) and some orange juice and a piece of fruit (for my daughter) or a smoothie made with orange juice, frozen strawberries, a banana and a scoop of protein/vitamin powder (for my son).
I figured it out one time and discovered that, with this for breakfast, my kids had already taken in more than half of the protein they needed for the entire day.

Our breakfast mainstays are smoothies w/ toast and oatmeal w/ a small amount of brown sugar & milk, plus a fruit.
We had smoothies this morning. Usually they look like:
1-2 bananas
Some frozen (or fresh) berries (usually a 3-berry blend from Costco)
Plain yogurt (today I used kefir that I found on sale)
milk
I blend it all in the blender, and serve it with piece of toast. If the bananas are nice & ripe, they provide all the sweetness necessary.
