We have a 3 hour layover in Chicago tomorrow and I wanted to take our walkie-talkies for the boys (14, 10, 8) to have in case they need to go to the bathroom, browse a gift shop or if I'm in the bathroom with DD, etc. I know cell phones are allowed, but I couldn't find anything specific about walkie-talkies. Anyone BTDT?

Bump.
Anyone? I'm planning on getting to the airport early enough (4 hour drive, ugh) so we could return them to the vehicle if they aren't allowed, but given that I'm 20 weeks pregnant and I'll have to take all 4 kids everywhere I go, I'd rather know ahead of time. Thanks!

Are you going to be on an airplane?? I am not really sure if airport security would really allow it. They have policies regarding gadgets and the security measures are tight due to terrorist attacks before.. But I do think you should ask them just to make sure..

I cant'; think of any reason they wouldn't be allowed, given that you can take and use cellphones, videogames, personal computers, etc. Just make sure the batteries are charged so that you can turn them on if asked at security.

We're back...yes, they are allowed. None of the screeners even looked in the bags where they were. They were relatively pointless for the purpose we had taken them. We got a lot of interference from other walkie-talkies at the airport and it was too noisy there to really be able to use them.
