So far all the ones I have found are where you would need to pay. Maybe some will show after for free.

Are you looking for a free site or pay-per-view online?
We've used Setanta sports to watch the rugby world cup online. It's a pay-site where you can purchase either a years general subscription or package to a particular sporting event.

What are you watching today? DH and DSs are going to German Grille to watch the Germany-Poland game :) (One of our good friends used to be goalie on the Poland national team, so it'll be fun to hear who wins!)

Yes, we watched the Poland-Germany game as well! Great fun!! Now that school is done, we hope to watch as many games as possible. On this site, you can watch everything for free:

My guys are wishing school was done so they could watch soccer every single morning and afternoon for the next three weeks.;) I'm going to have to tape the games.

It doesn't work for me; I'm surprised you were able to go that route. I wouldn't have thought it possible to watch without paying since the rights were purchased by ESPN. We have a satellite dish (no cable here) that we only pay to activate a few weeks during the World Cup, Euro Cup, or Winter Olympics. That works out pretty well because it costs next to nothing for the short time we use it. Maybe you can do that in the future?

We watched them for free on ESPN. Some of the games were on TV too. The Germany/Poland game was on TV yesterday.

My dd is in Amsterdam. Her apartment is so close to the game (or the fans were so rowdy) that I heard the noise the fans were making while talking to her via skype!!

The game wasn't in Amsterdam, but what with Holland's outstanding win, I can imagine the locals were going nuts! Btw, what's skype?

That's odd... maybe it's because you can only view it on Windows with IE 6 or 7 or Firefox (that's at least what the website says).
We don't have a satellite dish... so we're out of luck there. It would be nice to choose just a few channels every now and then...(especially big sporting events like the Olympics etc.)

I tried with both IE 6.0 and Firefox; no go either way. No biggie, since I don't actually want to watch on the computer. I'm glad it works for you!

The satellite set up with directv cost us next to nothing. We paid about $50 for the dish ~ this was back during Euro 2004, I believe ~ and the install was free. It just sits up there, pretty inconspicuous, and doesn't cost us a dime 98% of the time because we don't have it activated. When there's an event we want to watch, we call and have it activated. This month we'll pay $30 for the basic package, and the day after the cup is over, we'll call and terminate the package. Works great!

Thanks for the info! I had thought it would cost much more to have a dish installed. As our boys get older, this is definitely something to look into :-).
