I can remember a certain Christmas eve-eve a few years ago when we had our grown kids home for Christmas, one toilet plugged and the other overflowed. Man. I got a panicked walkie talkie message from dh (I was at the post office in line with about 7 old ladies) full volume with my dh cursing about the water being everywhere, get home quick.

That was the year Christmas was almost cancelled for our family. We spent the next day with the plunger and toilet snake, running the carpet shampooer for hours trying to suck up the water that had run down the hallway of our rental, on into the living an dining room.

Needless to say, when we built our house, we installed the type of toilet that flushes 26 golf balls... no issues so far in this home.

You have my complete sympathy.

I always loved the slogan of the plumber in our previous town.

"A straight flush beats a full house"

Yeah, for proper working toilets. I love modern plumbing.

Next time, call a local rental store and rent a closet auger for $25-50 (depending on the area) and do it yourself - it's pretty easy and MUCH cheaper!
