Pretty cruel I guess. The guy was super nice about it and we gave him a hefty tip considering that his flesh might have frozen if we took too long to get to the door! LOL Plus, when he came to the door he asked to be let in for a minute because there was a coyote in our front yard! (They seem to get fearless when the weather is this cold because there are not as many people [none] walking about the streets.) We would have invited him in no matter what just to be clear!

Not cruel at all. The guy was working that night because he wanted or needed to, so I'm sure he appreciated the business. At least he didn't sit there all night and earn nothing.

IMO.

LOL I don't set foot out the door. Period! Thankfully it usually is only maybe a week or two out of the year that it's this bad.

That coyote was hoping for a warm pizza, I bet.

No, I agree w/ the others -- he wouldn't have worked that night if he didn't need the money.

Woohoo! This is my 200th post!

Don't worry. If it's too cold, they don't deliver.
At least that's how it works over here.

You live in Calgary, so how cruel is that? It gets colder in Yellowknife, etc! My parents tell stories of how cold it got in Sask and Manitoba--even colder than that, so don't feel too badly. And you did tip him well, let him stay inside until the coyote left, etc.

I wonder what too cold is there? -75:D

Here we shut down the town (state?) if there's a few of inches of snow or ice. I am not kidding! It used to drive my boss and coworkers from other states crazy.

When I was in school in Nashville, TN, they had one inch of snow...and the whole city shut down for almost a week. (They only had one snow plow!) Having grown up in Indiana, I thought it was a hoot.

Hope you gave the pizza guy a BIG tip--he deserved it!

Your hefty tip, I'm sure, made up for it. I used to deliver pizzas, I did it because I needed every penny and I'm sure he doesn't mind the extra business. I just hope he was dressed for it.

BTW, I grew up in Anchorage, AK and remember walking to school when the wind chill was -45......as long as I had the layers and was active, it was actually a little fun....for a little bit!

Here in Cincinnati our city shuts down for 4+ inches. Half the schools close if there are 2". It only lasts a day or two, because the next day it will be in the 50s. We never put our summer clothes away except for the bathing suits.
