That is the only explanation. They have been gone for 2 weeks now and I have to accept that they are gone for good. Yes, I looked under everything, in everything exc. They are not here. The key to my hope chest is irreplaceable :( At least it isn't locked now so I can still get into it, but I will never be able to lock it again. The rest are probably replaceable it is just a %^&%$#$@ pain.

When ds was this age (and shared the same delight in "helping" by throwing things away) he threw out dh's glasses. At least the keys should be cheeper.

Now I need a cool new key chain. Are there clapper ones that beep at you so you can find them? Any cool mom or homeschooler ones I should consider? Right now I have my dh's car and house key on a pitiful little wire ring. If I don't bulk it up I am going to lose these too and then dh will really be

It's a really good thing God made 2yos nearly the cutest things on the planet.

I babysit an 18 month old little girl and she's taken to throwing things away, too. Fortunately, it's only been papers, magazines and washcloths, so far. My keys are always in a coat pocket, so they're safe.

Sorry for the pain you have to go through to replace your keys!

Drove me bonkers to lose my keyring! Sorry to hear that it happened to you. For us, I'm pretty sure Dh lost them, though he'll never admit to it.

Just a comment on the key rings that make noise when you clap to find them... my mom had one of those b/c she's always losing her keys and it drove us all mad to look for them every time she came over. The thing would beep over the least little noise... we'd laugh too loud at dinner and off it would go, the kids would giggle, a movie came to a loud scene... oh. the thing drove us all bonkers. It was not worth being able to find the keys because by then all we wanted to do was lose them!

My soon to be 3 yods likes to help clean up his table spot just like his big brothers. The only problem is that he will throw away his utensils along with his paper plate and napkin. I've rescued a couple and I wonder if I lost any. :)

If it makes you feel any better...my oldest daughter threw away my cell phone during her "throw everything away because I like to the sound of the trash can lid flipping" phase. We actually replaced our kitchen trash can so the lid is noisier....my youngest is in that stage right now. I have found: clothes, dishes and food from the pantry in there. I am now in the habit of checking the trash everytime I go through the room

That is truly a pain! So sorry about that. I have to have mine on a carabiner; otherwise, I would lose them!

This is not fun, but at least your baby didn't swallow them!!!! And, yes, it's a good thing God made them cute!

Do your kids ever listen to Trout Fishing in America? There is a song about your situation...in the song the keys are in the diaper and the wallet is in the trash :D

We had replaced the gaskets on the stove and when everything was "scooped up" and put back into the tub we store stove "stuff" in, the keys must have gotten scooped up, too.

If my dh hadn't gotten that box out for some reason, it would have been next fall when we found them--we do a stove check once a year prior to starting it up for the winter.

Glad to have them back!

Sorry, that really stinks. I can relate. We ended up locking the trash under the counter after losing quite a few items. He hid my kids a couple of weeks ago. My oldest missed his Taekwondo class that night. I found the keys the next morning, in with my coffee.

When I thought (for a few days) that my credit cards, etc. had been *stolen* from my wallet (yes, I had already cancelled some), it turns out my three-year-old had taken a fistful of stuff out of it, and placed it under the *center* of the large Turkish rug in our living room.

Somehow, an older child found it. (Fortunate that someone looked...because I don't move it to vacuum very often. :-)
