My niece is graduating from high school and I had originally thought of diamond earrings, but my husband thinks just money. She will be going to a local community college and living at home. This child does not have any needs. What would you do?

I went for sentimental gifts with my girl... plus a huge monetary "loan" for her Africa trip. She had been talking about this coffee cup at Starbucks for weeks and I just kept that in mind and then added in a sparkly water globe with Class of 2008 and a photo frame inside of it.

I'm a big fan of gift cards. I have two nieces and a nephew that graduated this year. I don't see them enough to really know what they need, so I got them Visa gift cards. They can use it for gas, food, clothes...whatever. Not very personal, but like I said, I rarely see them. I do like the idea of jewelry for your niece. That would be special.

I am in the more practical camp. I would be afraid that diamonds would be stolen or lost in college! (Save those for when she gets married, or something. :001_smile:)
