I was at work and missed the whole thing but according to my dh five unmarked cars surrounded the house next door and police got out with guns drawn! My dd5 was running around in our yard and one of the officers said to her "get in the house, kid!" Sounds like something right out of the "Untouchables".
Now, we live in an old but respectable suburban neighborhood on the north side of the Twin Cities. Stuff like this does not happen here! The house was sold by the original owner to a "family" a year ago and things have seemed very suspicious ever since. I knew I had a gut feeling that not everything was kosher over there. People were coming and going during the work day. The small children who initially moved into the house were not seen after a month or so. Shades always drawn, etc.
So was it a drug bust? Illegal immigration raid? How do I find out? I told my dh I was going to call our local PD but he doesn't think they'll give out any info. I've tried looking on line but nothing comes up. Any thoughts?

I'd call the police. You might get more information because you live next door to the house and you have small children. I think that arrests are a matter of public record. Nothing is lost if they can't or won't give you any information.

Yikes! I am glad they told your child to go inside though. Hopefully you can figure out what happened.

This happened to us too!!! My dh went in to the police station the next day and asked. They had received information that there were the makings of a meth lab in the house next door.

Same thing - all these cars pulled up - including the mobile crime lab unit. They broke down the front door. I peeked out my window and asked the policeman if I should be worried. He told me to shut my windows and lock my doors. ACK! They took a bunch of stuff out of the house, but the guy wasn't there. Like you, we knew something was odd with this guy. He supposedly moved in the month before, but he came and went at very odd hours. His landlord went into the house and found all sorts of odd things and contacted the authorities.

Like you, we lived in a very nice area of town! This stuff just didn't happen there!!! We've since moved, but now I know that I may never be truly "safe" from that sort of thing!

When we lived in FL we were awakened one morning with a SWAT team breaking into the house across the street, which was in a nice neighborhood. Seems these kids were dealing in stolen property.

We had the SWAT team at our house when ds was around 3 years old. Turns out we bought our house from an armed robber.

If the police won't tell you anything you might try your local newspaper. Ours regularly runs a "police blotter" section so they must have access to local police activity.

I did some sleuthing this morning, talked with two different police departments and the most I could get was that it was probably a narcotics bust. What I am wondering is what happens to the property? I kind of hope it goes into foreclosure and a nice homeschool family moves in!:001_smile:
