....for 2nd grade. Our plan is to study life science. My problem is that I'm not a "science" person, but my dc LOVE science. I need something that will be fairly simple for me to organize and put together, and also engaging for my dc. I would like to be able to compare only 2 or 3 programs at our convention, so I'm going to you all for your top picks! :bigear:
We really like the "Exploring Creation with" series - we've done Astronomy and Botany, and are partway through Zoology I.

A mom of this board has some neat Life Science Plans that are available through LuLu (http://www.lulu.com/content/1029208).

Thank you both for the recommendations. The plans at LuLu look great...I think I could handle them. I'm wondering about the Kingfisher Encyclopedia. I don't know anything about it and I want to teach science from a Christian worldview. Will this work?

using the WTM approach and Kingfisher/Usborne books - covering human body, animals, and plants. I'd be happy to share if you would like it. But then I enjoy that kind of planning.
There's also a couple of plans on Lulu by other moms on this board. A previous poster mentioned the one by Jessica; Paige's area also good. Hers include a student workbook too and all the experiment instructions and reporting sheets and notebooking pages. I got both of them to compare and look for ideas, but ended up planning my own.
One (http://www.lulu.com/content/1029208) is from TriviumAcademy (Jessica)
Another (http://www.lulu.com/content/2003986) is from Paige (I think she goes by elementalscience on this board? Correct me if I'm wrong on that, Paige...)
Easy Classical (http://www.easyclassical.com/science_product_page.html) also sells ready to go plans.
I've read a lot of Apologia Elementary (http://www.jeanniefulbright.com/science.html) recommendations from parents with kids in upper elementary. I have a first grader and decided it would be too much for her now, which is why I just wrote my own. I'll likely use Apologia once she's a few years older. They are definitely written with a Christian perspective.
HTH!

Thanks Keri, your post does help. When I looked at the LuLu link earlier, I didn't realize that it was Trivium Academy's Jessica that made those plans. Great job Jessica! Paige's plans look awesome too. I'm not sure I would be able to do all they're doing, but I can sure try!:D
Thanks! I'm a bit of an overplanner, science is one of our favorite's here, so don't feel like you have to do it all. I'd rather give you the tools to do it all and let you pick and choose and tailor it to your own needs! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me!

We really like the "Exploring Creation with" series - we've done Astronomy and Botany, and are partway through Zoology I.
I second this. There is an Apologia website that has great lesson plans and ideas, great for a non-science mom.:001_smile:
