The Teaching Company has a new art course - based on the art at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC.

Those STINKERS!!!!!! :D

They KNOW that we only live 20 minutes from this museum, and they KNOW that I have a weakness for their courses! AND they MUST know that we aren't really doing art OR art history....

Can someone PLEASE tell me HOW in the world, one could pass up an opportunity to study art by learning about the art (BY TIME PERIOD - CHRONOLOGICALLY!!!!!) from an expert in the field at home via DVD and then GO AND SEE THE ART!!!! Shoot; we could take the lectures on the ipod video and watch them IN the museum!

Can someone tell that we need more than 24 hours in our day! AND a bigger budget!!!!

Just kidding really...

I just wanted to let ya'll know that this course is out in case someone else lives in the area! :)

Peace,
Janice

Enjoy your little people
Enjoy your journey

It looks very cool! Dh bought me another of their new art series, Art across the Ages, for Christmas. It came bundled with Museum Masterpieces of the Louvre. Perhaps one day I'll get to actually go there and check them out for myself. That would be fun. Anyone up for a trip to Paris? Dh and I were in Paris 19 years ago on our first wedding anniversary. We were only there for a day and a night as we passed through on a whirlwind tour of England, France, and Belgium. The Eiffel Tower was amazing and I dipped my feet into the fountains at the Place de la Concorde. We even took a spin around the Arc de Triomphe. But, it was a Tuesday. The Louvre is closed on Tuesday. Ugh. It's a reason to go back.;)

Paris? I'm trying to carve out a way to regularly get across the bridge often enough to make THIS work. :-)
Seriously though - I would love it! It just isn't in my near future as far as I can tell.
Peace,
Janice

That does look like a nice one! And by the way, I heartily recommend the Art across the Ages, and the History of European Art-- both are very well done. I wish I lived near NYC!

and I came across the Metropolitan Museum course Janice mentioned. Lo and behold, there's a whole lecture on the Greek and Roman exhibit! I had been thinking of taking a field trip up to New York to see it (since we're doing Year 1 right now), but I'd MUCH rather see the exhibit on my TV screen at home!
