Our Pizza Hut pizza just got here (pepperoni and pinapple) ... I'm looking over the Sonlight catalog (figuring out the levels of the books ... for my own benefit) and my daughter is watching Chocolat.

What are you up to this Sunday afternoon?

After church, we had lunch then hit the beach for a few hours. It was our first beach day and it was sooo nice. DH is outside right now grilling burgers, hotdogs and lamb chops we picked up on the way home. Looking forward to a nice relaxing evening.

It's raining all day here. However, DS10 decided he would be responsible for dinner. He selected what he thought was best, went to the store with Dad, prepared everything, served us, and cleaned up the kitchen afterwards!

yeah!

Two of the kids and I spent the afternoon in the yard, putting together a square foot garden box and mixing up Mel's mix for it. We still have one box to go, plus a chicken wire cage to build for each, along with a tomato trellis.

Now we are going to a great Italian/pizza restaurant. I am going to eat yeast rolls dipped in warm, herbed olive oil and a big dish of chocolate mousse. Whatever comes in between is just a way to get from the rolls to the dessert while appearing to be well-socialized.

My parents came on Thursday and left around 1pm today. I've been catching up on the news here, and trying to do research into the materials I got for next school year so I can try to organize it all and figure out a skeleton schedule, at least!

The kids have been running in and out with friends.

DH is treasurer of our church, so he worked on that. Now he's updating computers and watching car races.

We also ate some of a rhubarb pie I made yesterday. I made it all from scratch. I didn't even know what real rhubarb looked like before this!

We had our family portrait taken this afternoon at Olan Mills. They run these unbelievable deals once in awhile and I caught one last week so I signed us up right away. However, I obviously forgot how stressful it can be trying to get the kids and dh ready for something like that, as well as thinking I could possibly spend anytime on myself. We ended up racing out the door, my hair was still wet. I thought it looked a lot better than it evidently did in reality. Everyone in the pic looked great but me. I look terrible. BUT it's fine, I'm sure I'll have a good laugh in about 10 years when I look back on that picture because by then, I'll have lost my baby weight and be about 30 lbs. lighter and my hair will always look great because I won't be chasing a toddler constantly!!:D

So we headed straight to Pizza Hut and now I have heartburn. Homemade food is always so much better. Why, oh why...don't I ever learn??

Trying to catch up on my blog (http://kristine-jewelsofmyown.blogspot.com/).

Ate dinner ages ago, new recipes included blackberry chicken, and creamy orange jello. We also had boxed scalloped potatoes.

Washing a load of towels. Real excitement.

We're getting ready to watch the new Who Wants to Be the Next Food Network Star. Yippee! I need some reality now that AI is over.
