I just wanted to share that we just purchased Endless Ocean and my dd is having a great time with it.
She is learning about many different ocean animals while playing. I am not a scuba diver, but it looks realistic so you almost feel like you are there.
It was $30 well spent!

We love it here too! Very cool and super relaxing (and non-competitive which is nice.)

I'll keep an eye out for it. It looks like a pretty game.

I was surprised that my ds (13) enjoys it, also.
He is more into action games (he likes Sonic, Metroid Prime, stuff like that), but he played this for quite a while and really enjoyed it.
It was fun watching him train his dolphin.
The other thing I like is that the game is $29.99, where most Wii games are $49.99. It wasn't so hard to fork over the money. :)
We have a diving school in town and my dc and I are discussing scuba lessons now! Amazing the doors video games can open. :)

Thank you for this recommendation. It's so nice to have my son enjoying something that doesn't feature either Mario or Sonic!
If your kids would like to share a "friend code" (so that they can play with my son in multi-player mode) send me a private message and let's exchange "friend codes." My son would be thrilled!! :)

HUGE hit here too. Husband loves it, 9yr old loves it and 11yr old played it a bit and said it wasn't his "thing". The 9yr old played it for each of his allotted games times for several days. I counted it as science because he could really name the animals and things about them quickly. Good stuff. :)

Just wanted to thank you for this!
I purchased it after reading these reviews and gave it to the kids as a 'family gift' for Valentine's Day. All three of them have been playing it whenever they get the chance -- they're even neglecting Thrillville (their other current favorite) for this, and that is high praise, indeed.:)

Thanks for the rec. I was just telling my husband we needed to branch out from bowling and tennis. Sounds like this will fill the bill.

I got it, too, after reading the original post and ds10 loves it! He even bought it with his own money so it was a double win.

My dd says it is fun because you swim around and learn about undersea animals in a new way, rather than through boring textbooks. :)
She says you can find treasure (like a tiara, a pearl, a brass mirror, etc.), you get to take people out and guide them on a dive. You get to touch the animals and swim with dolphins and whales and learn about them by interacting with them.
She says "How many video games are educational and fun? Not many, but this one is!"
It is hard to really explain it. If you can rent it at a movie rental place that might be the way to try it out and see if you like it.
