Supposed to say fun summer "software" recommendations...

Cross-posted from the K-8 board...

I am looking for software for my kids to use over the summer just to keep the brains humming along a bit, and for something to do when it is too hot and they're tired of reading. In the past we have used Carmen Sandiego Word Detective and also Math Detective, and they really enjoyed those. I also have a pre-K boy and a 2nd grade girl in addition to the older kids. Any recommendations? Has anyone tried the Cluefinders series? What about the Carmen S. geography games? Do they have any substance to them?

Clue-finders are good. My ds enjoyed them. Where in the US is Carmen Sandiego, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego and Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego are good. Oregon Trail (a simulation game) is good.
