Private photo blogs for family

Does a truly private hosting site exist? I'd like to have a photo blog for family and close friends since we live far away from so many of them, but I don't want it to be easily accessed. Is there such a thing? Perhaps a password protected site or something? Or is *nothing* safe if it's on the Internet?

If you know of a good place to host photos that's private, could you share? And is it available for free, or would I have a monthly (or yearly) fee?

My dd has one set up with blogspot.com. The security levels are easily changed to make it a password protected blog. Only a few friends and relatives can access it. It's worked out well.

Blogspot is free. The only thing you'll want to do is resize your photos (this can be easily done; ask for suggestions if you don't know how!). The photos straight out of my camera take up too much space way too quickly; I resize to 800x600. Some people use photobucket instead. There are lots of options.

Blogspot is also really easy to use. I am not big into learning new things, and this was easy and pretty fun! (Or maybe it was pretty easy and fun, lol.)

Mine is private but not password protected. I didn't list it and, if you do a google search for it, you can't find it. I also have a good tracker on it and every few days I check to see who's been looking at it.

As for photos, I paid the yearly fee for flickr.com and upload all of my blog photos there. That way, I'm not limited to a certain number of photos in my post. I load my videos directly onto blogger.

I like blogspot as well. You can also set your profile to list only the blogs you want listed. For instance, I have two private blogs and 2 public blogs, only the public ones are listed on my profile.
