View Full Version : I come begging prayers. (More talk about my move. Sorry.)

Today is loading day. Yesterday was packing day, and we were sent ONE packer. The Lone Packer, we called him, and he was sent to do a full pack on a household of seven. Thank heavens I packed so much more than planned. (Trying to save some $. Turns out it saved our timeline; he'd never have gotten it done alone.)
Speaking of $... *ahem* Saving $ has flown out the window. Our estimate was waaaaay off. It's taken, even with "good" packing (I watched him!) twice as many boxes as estimated, with more to go today. And not counting what I did. Yeeek. If I'd not have packed what I did.... YIKES. So, it's going to be significantly more expensive.
If you would/could, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers today. We need a check to arrive this morning (it should, unless Something Weird happens) to help out in the Oh So Over Budget department. I'm now a nervous wreck. I don't like $ "stuff", and despite my gypsy type existence so far, I have apparently gotten old enough to be COMPLETELY stressed by moving. And I have to pack my computer soon! :tongue_smilie: (Oh, yes, and I need five children to be calm, quiet and perfectly compliant and undemanding for the next two days. (That one was reaching too far, probably, huh?)
Thank you, everyone.

I'll be praying for your move to go smoothly! Moving is such a pain---the expensive, the stress of packing, the stress of the unknown. I'll pray for God to smooth over the rough edges and to provide for you in this time of $$ need.

Moving companies are just the worst, really. Rarely on time, rarely with the right number of people, rarely giving the right information to their employees. I cannot believe the number of people who have bad mover stories. If anyone has an on-time, efficient, helpful, careful mover, they consider it a blessed anamoly in the space-time continuum.
So what I'm trying to say is: don't feel bad.

Oh, my heart goes out to you! I hate moving, and I know all about $ stress. I'll be praying for you, for everything to go smoothly, for the check to arrive (and maybe an extra, unexpected check, too), and for the kids to be really well behaved. Oh, yeah, and peace for you. (((Andie)))

Oh, Andie!
I'll keep you in mind. It will all work out! Somehow, it will!
Our new job doesn't pay relocation. So I'm looking at all of our stuff, and thinking .... hmm. Can we move the piano in the minivan?
ONE packer? What were they thinking?

The check didn't come. The mail is being forwarded a day early, because that's how it works "on weekends." But, we've figured it all out. (Where's the juggling smiley? lol)
The movers were very nice and mostly competent, and there was more than one (http://andthemama.blogspot.com/2008/05/did-i-say-packers-were-coming-today.html), so that's a bonus. And, obviously, the internet is still connected, though Verizon said it'd be off today. This is a mistake I can live with. :D
So. Now. Back to cleaning.
Thank you, so much for your prayers and messages. It'd just warmed my heart so much to read them all. :grouphug:

Still praying for you guys....
Why does it seem (to me) like you are going away on some difficult mission? Have you ever seen the movie The Abyss? I don't want you to lose communication!!! I mean, I'm sure you will be fine... just don't send garbled messages... that would really freak me out! We'll see you on top of the big hydra-like alien! Farewell!
(None of this is going to make any sense at all if you haven't seen that movie. ):001_huh:
Be safe! Praying for an uneventful trip and finding lots of money in the furniture as you carry it out.:D

That last one is a tall order, but hopefully you'll make it through and the check will arrive and you'll not have to do this again in the foreseeable future.
Pack up your computer? Definitely save that for last.

Good luck dear! I hope the rest is smooth and easy! When we moved to TN, I was pregnant with the younger ds. They brought part of our stuff in the first week and since they underestimated the truck, the rest went in storage. It took many phone calls for them to get the rest of our things to us. Included in this lot was the LOAD LAST boxes, ie the ones we needed right away! When the rest was finally delivered, there was only the driver. Umm, there was furniture including a piano! Dh was home, thankfully! He had to unload what we paid for someone else to do. Miserable!
