for Highschool? We need help deciding which would be easiest to understand.

After doing Physical Science and Chemistry at home, my teen went to the local community college. Is that an option for your child? There she has taken a year of Geology (which includes a full lab component). Next year she'll take Environmental Science and perhaps Astronomy.
I should mention that while she is good at math and science, she does not care for them overmuch. Neither Geology nor Environmental Science require much math at the introductory level.

Apologia explains science in an easy-to-understand way. Try comparing some of the Apologia pages to a more traditional science textbook and you'll see what I mean.

COnceptual Physics by hewitt. Its algebra only and really just manipulations of F=ma type equations and squares and square roots. It is hands down the best explanation of physics I have every read (i'm an electrical engineer). The early verison have less math to the point that I would avoid edition 1 & 2. The lastest edition, 10 I beleive coming out this fall is awesome but I don't like the new workbook (new publisher too public school repeat what I just said , instead of thinking). I would go with editon 9 & supplemental material - practicing physics is a great workbook.
I haven't lloked at conceptual chemsitry - it is writeen by a relative of hewitts nad doesn't get thew rave review.
