My 9th grade dd used Breaking the French Barrier this year. It was ok. She struggled through it and only finished half the book. She'll complete it next year. Her plan at the beginning of the school year was to just use this as a supplement and take a beginner French course at the local French school, but not enough homeschoolers signed up for the class so it was canceled.
I know she would love to use a program like BJU's DVDs so she can hear the language spoken by the teacher; but at $400 for the course, it's just too expensive for us.
Are there any other teaching DVD's that are similar to BJU but aren't so expensive? If you are using Breaking the French Barrier (or Spanish) and it didn't work out for you, are you trying something different?
