I finally bought new seeds. One of the projects we didn't get to last yr that the dc & I were most excited about was a sunflower race--whose will grow the fastest?
So naturally I *had* to get the biggest kind. But dh says we don't get enough sun on our porch. Plus, I don't think we've got 12' of clearance.
We could put them on the side of the apt, but...there are unsupervised dc everywhere. They're so...well, they dig in the pots on our porch. So you can imagine how they'd treat pots around the corner. Plus, around the corner means *both* feet have to step out of the a/c. Eek.
Aside from the Mammoth Sunflower issue, I'd like to grow some things on the porch. We get enough sun on one side, dh says, just not on the side blocked by the shadow of the bldg. I've got chive seeds & tomatoes. I've got other stuff, too, but I'm too embarrassed to ask *specifically* what grows well in containers, because I figure I should know.
So pretend I've got a decent idea of what you should & shouldn't put in a pot & tell me what your favs have been. I'm thinking as much twd the veggie/herb side as poss, but not nec only that. I just figure anything we don't kill will feel so much more rewarding if we get to...I don't know...harvest it.
Btw, having read the above, you'd probably be amused to know there's a blueberry farm for sale near here, & dh & I would *love* to buy it. Can't you just imagine? Those poor, poor blueberries! Luckily, the adjoining house only has 2 bedrooms.
