from a cat? (I'm not making this up!) Our cat Lucy is covered in red fingernail polish that fell off the counter and shattered. Ds was also "painted" but I got it off him with a little elbow grease and some remover. Of course, the vet closed at noon today (small town) so I have to wait til tomorrow to take her. I have a feeling she is gonna have to be shaved, but wondered if there was anything anyone could recommend that would help make her more comfy tonight. She keeps trying to clean it off herself and she's miserable?

Well, step one is clear: take a pic & post it here.
Then we'll tell you step two. Maybe.

Poor kitty. I think you probably will have to cut or shave her red sparkly fur off.

I wouldn't bother with the vet. I'd just cut all the affected fur off. Shave her with the clippers if you have to (and you've got them.)
She'll just keep at it, and you do NOT want her ingesting the nail polish! She might end up a little ugly for a while, but that's a much preferable alternative to getting sick (or worse) from the polish.
ETA: I've had to shave many a cat, for many a reason. It isn't that bad. You'll need 2 people to hold her while you shave or trim. She'll probably completely hate you for it, but like so many other "mommy" things we do, we do it for their own good.

We no longer have a red, sparkly kitten... she is more of a pinky shaved kitty now. She still has quite a red ear though!
Today this is hee-larious... yesterday, not so much!
