I haven't had to use someone in quite some time, and am wondering what the going rate is for a sitter/hs helper. It is a college student that I am having come for a couple hours. She will be playing with the children while I run errands/work on my writing. I would like her to come from time to time to help with other homeschooling things as well.
What should I budget? She has said she is doing it to bless me, but I really want to pay her properly to bless her!
Thanks!!!

I have 4 boys (12, 10, 8, & 7) and I pay my sitter $10 per hour. We live in a fairly rural community. My sitters are usually Jr./Sr. in High School or freshmen in college. I pay them from the time they would leave their house until the time they would arrive home.
I've been told that I overpay, but we don't use sitters often and it's worth it to me.

Last year I paid $7 an hour for my 3 boys; I use to pay more when there was a toddler in the mix. Now we are working on paying our house off early, so we don't go out as much as we used to...

depends on how many children. For 4 I paid about $10 an hour, for just one I'd do about $5 or $6
