I'm feeling like our memory work should include more from the bible. A friend's child that attends a classical christian school said that her children memorized Isaiah 40. Any other reccommendations?
Thanks,

We're memorizing 1 Cor. 13 this year. It's been helpful for them to learn what it means exactly when they are told to love each other.

We've memorized Psalms 1. It flows nicely and has the feel of poetry, too.

My 11 year old son memorized Psalm 40:1-10 last semester and has started on Psalm 111:1-10 for the second half of the year. My 5 year old daughter is working on Psalm 67. My younger one hears her older brother working on his memorization verses and she can now recite a portion of his.

We're doing this one too right now. Last year we did Ps 121 and Ps 23.

We're currently finishing up Psalm 23 and will go to Psalm 1 next. Psalm 100 and the Beatitudes are some others I didn't see mentioned. I love having a Bible passage going all the time! I think they are easier to review and retain than lots of individual verses.

How about John 1. I memorized that in HS, and still remember it well.

Phillipians 2 (or a large chunk of it, I can't remember) because it talks about putting others first and not thinking of ourselves first. Our whole family memorized it.

Right now, my kids and I are memorizing Philippians 1. Romans 8 would be a wonderful chapter to memorize!
