Hey, Jean...

I've been thinking about a couple of courses for my dd next year that BJU has on DVD. You subscribe to Homesat, don't you? If so, I'm wondering... the courses I'm considering are 8th grade or so, and some of the samples I previewed look like regular homesat courses, and some are obviously interactive LINC classes. How can one tell by looking at the catalog or website which courses are LINC and which ones aren't? I don't think I'd like the LINC format on a DVD, since we wouldn't be involved in the interactive part, and I would like to avoid those courses if I can. Or is everything in High School LINC?

Thanks so much!
Robin

PS: do you use their secondary bible?

Hi Robin!

We don't use homesat, yet. We are planning to for fall so I don't have experience with it yet. There is a yahoo group called Homesat and they might be able to answer your question. I will look through my catalog later and see if I can find an answer and PM you.

We use the Homesat LINC classes. I know they do seem quite different with the LINC students' interaction, but they are still very good courses. I highly recommend any classes with Mr. Harmon. My son loves him and learned a great deal from his Chemistry class. I've heard the Physical Science class is just as good.

The classes that are LINC are all the high school math and science classes, as well as the foreign language courses. The Bible, History, Literature and English classes are regular previously taped classes (not LINC).

I hope that helps. :)

I just realized you mentioned 8th grade! I'm trying to recall if the Pre-Alg class is LINC! I honestly have never viewed it. My understanding was that only high school level science, math & foreign classes were LINC classes, so I am assuming that it is not one.

Hmmm....I cannot find my taping schedule booklet or I could tell you for sure. If I find it I will post again.

Thanks so much! This is exactly what I need to know. I'll look again at the 8th grade previews to see if they had any LINC interactives.

Thanks, Jean and Melissa, for responding!
