View Full Version : Is it okay if I sing someone's praises?

I've recently been going through the curriculum-choosing paralysis for my dd#2, coming up on 9th grade next year. I really worked myself into a tizzy - I knew I wanted something, but exactly what? I've looked at everything under the sun 987,584,632 times. I was just....a mess. A mess and a half. No wonder I was getting killer headaches (y'all have no idea just how obsessive I can get! The brain just won't turn off until the problem is solved!) And Ellie's words of, "Just pick something!" kept echoing in my head....this had gone on long enough. STOP IT!! (I guess I'm singing Ellie's praises, too :)).

Two things I was looking at are totally different, and I was really starting to go in circles. I pm'd someone here, who doesn't know me from Adam, and she took the time to hold my hand, lead me through each one, help me visualize exactly how each one would play out in reality, analyze my personality as far as finding a match, and described her experience with each and knowledge of each down to the tiniest detail - all of this while not trying to sway me either way. She put so much effort into helping me see if either one would be a good fit for *me*, it was just incredible, and oh, so helpful. Maybe I do better with one on one attention, or I just need someone to really understand me and how my brain works, but whatever it is, she did it.

Her name is Melissa in CA, and I feel like I should be paying her a therapist's fee! If anyone wants to sling some happy points her way, she certainly deserves it (although she'd probably be mortified that I said that!). She is so patient, classy, and just an all-around fantastic boardie. I'm so thankful we have her, and people like her, that are willing to reach out and help those who really need just the reassurance of talking it through.

Oh, and Ellie, I did it. I picked something! :) Life is good. Now I'm looking forward to next year, and I have a smile on my face and peace in my life. Here's to helping one another in our attempts to keep this homeschooling gig rolling. :grouphug:

Melissa's been very helpful to me, too! It's so wonderful how we - relative strangers - can bond together and help one another like this. :grouphug::001_smile:

That is awesome that she was able to help you like that. (and that you were able to pick something).

I am going to thread-jack for hald a moment to sing someone's praises too, if you don't mind. I posted n the WTB forum and was a little worried since I am new and don't know who is a good seller etc. Anyway, Judy responded to me, and gave me the book I wanted for free, only charging me s/h. AND she even popped it in the mail before I paid that shipping to her. What a sweetheart she is to have trusted me like that. It was only a few dollars but still, I am so excited to get the book (and I did pay the shipping as soon as she told me the total). I am so happy to have found this site, the members are so wonderful. :grouphug:

okay back to your previously scheduled praises for Melissa :)

Oh my goodness!!!

I was going to just ignore this thread but Gardenschooler has WAY over exaggerated my help! After reading her praises I thought...I did/said all THAT!?
Wow! I AM pretty amazing! :w00t:

 NOT!

She's so sweet. But honestly, I didn't do anything the rest of you wouldn't do as well. I have gotten some wonderful help on the boards myself, so I am always happy to try and help others when I can (whether they want my help or not! :D).

I truly believe she (Gardenschooler) already knew deep-down what she wanted, but just needed a bit more clarity with her options. I happened to be there at the right time...though I believe several of you had already 'primed the pump' so to speak. ;)

Thanks y'all for the great reps! You're too kind.

Blessings,
