Anyone read any of the Cam Jansen series? Opinions? Any bad language, too scary, etc.?

They are not scary, nor do they have bad language that I recall. My kids found them boring. They were take home readers when they were in ps and my kids hated them, particularily my son.

DS9 says, "No! They're great kid books. Nothing offensive. I'd probably recommend them for 7-8 year olds." (Of course, he's nine and enjoys them, himself, although it's been a while since he's read a new one.)
I asked him about the characters and their attitudes. He said, "She, Cam, is a nice person. She has that rare ability to remember visual images of things. That's why they call her 'Cam', for 'camera'." (so, I'm guessing she has a photographic memory?)
So, I guess that's a good thumbs-up. He also said most of the mysteries involved robberies, and are not scary at all.

My daughter loved them when she was 6-7. They're fun little mysteries.

My Dd loves these. I don't think there is anything to be worried about in this series. No bad language and nothing scary.

DD loved Cam Jansen when she was an early reader. I read a couple of them and found nothing remotely objectionable.

:iagree: Nothing objectionable. They do have 2 versions, though: A Young Cam Jansen (easier) and Cam Jansen. We have both and my dd adores them.

I agree. The Cam Jansen books, especially the Young Cam Jansen ones, were a great resource for my son when he was an early ready.

I never read them though. We are very particular compared to a lot of people...so based on that, my Dd, has good judgement on books. Like I said she liked them!
