Last time we heard report of a pregnancy through several people. This time only one (the would be great aunt) has said she has heard there is a pregnancy or possibly a baby already. Would you send a gift on that thin evidence? Would it be more alienating TO send something to a non-preggers struggling pair of 23 year olds with a 1 year old, or to NOT send something to a preggers struggling pair of 23 year olds with a 1 year old? The girl has shown in the past she equates money with love. We send things to the one year old via hubby's daughter's MIL who, while keeping silent as she has been asked to, has let on she will do what she can to soften this daughter's silence to all of hubby's family (e.g. asked DIL if it was okay if her Dad came to church on a day he was passing through town...answer was no).
Hubby is eager, as usual, to "not do the wrong thing". This territory is so alien to me, I have no idea....
On a more cheerful note, the non-silent daughter did not specifically request our kiddo and me NOT come to dinner next fall with her father and her, a first.
