I'm looking for a study (devotion, Bible study, etc.) that I can use with my boys, ages 10 and 12 (soon to be 13.) Preferrably something that will take between 10-20 minutes per day, and help teach them what it means to be a Godly young man, and prepare them for adulthood.

We have already used Pearables, "Personal Help for Boys," as well as Rod and Staff's "Young Man Be Strong," "Created for Work," and "Boyhood and Beyond." I own Pearables, "The Narrow Way," but I think I'm looking for something a bit more than just looking up Scripture. I say, "I think" because I'm not really sure what I'm looking for, but I'll know it when I see it, KWIM?

Also, it is important for it to be "meaty" and not "fluffy."

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Edited to add: I would like to do this study "with" them: reading it aloud, talking with them about it, etc.

What about Plants Grown Up? It is published by doorposts. Check it out at www.doorposts.com (http://www.doorposts.com).
It is MEATY!

Not specifically geared for manhood, BUT... we went over these character developing books together along with our Bible time with our 2 boys along about ages 10-13, and found the resources listed below to be helpful. They are all available through Rainbow Resource Catalog (www.rainbowresource.com).

Best of luck in finding what works well for your family! Warmest regards, Lori D.

- The Young Peacemaker (Sande)
See it at: http://www.peacemaker.net/site/c.aqKFLTOBIpH/b.958199/k.AFBE/Young_Peacemaker.htm

- Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends (Mally) -- written by 3 homeschooled siblings

Also, the following Kay Arthur study for kids on prayer -- while it has a pretty hokey theme to it -- had solid, specific, foundational info and application on prayer: "Lord, Teach Me to Pray".

Biographies of godly men and women have also been helpful for us, giving us a frame of reference re: godly choices and the consequences. One book we constantly refer to is "The Hiding Place" (biography of Betsy and Corrie Ten Boom who hid Jews in WW2 and were imprisoned in a terrible German prison camp for it).

Not personally familiar with it, but I believe the "Contenders for the Faith" is specific program for developing godly character in boys. See it at: http://www.keepersofthefaith.com/Catalog/Keepers_Books_89.asp
