Bear with me on this. I'm wandering around thinking about money today. Someone made the comment yesterday about needing 10 husbands - one to be with and 9 more to provide extra financial/activity support.
You know how people always say you can have one husband and many wives, but not one wife and many husbands. They claim it has to do with sex and babies and all that La la la....
BUT - I just flashed to the times when I've "lived" communally for a short time. In other words - group homeschool camping trips! You know what really happens?
On Friday all the moms and children show up along with the one or two token men that can make it - in our case this was the leader of the camping trip, Mark, and someone's husband who was pretty laid back and shy. Otherwise you had 15 moms and 40 plus children.
Friday went great. The tents were raised, we went on little hikes, we cooked, we played. All the kids played together - all the women hung out together. There was nothing that even resembled "families" in terms of dividing up. There was only one designated "leader" - Mark - whom we women had designated the leader because he was the science guy who could tell you what type of tree you were looking at. Everything went smoothly.
Then all the husbands arrived. Pure chaos! Now there were 15 egos to stroke, 15 guys who had 15 sets of plans for what THEY wanted to do, and 15 extra people who wanted to stay up later, sleep in later, eat something else, and maybe hike off in a completely different direction rather than helping to supervise the kids on the hike we were supposed to take.
Meals were all cooked separately so that each husbands' likes and dislikes could be attended to. The kids were ordered around and their games taken over by men who wanted to play "by the rules".
Sex? No one was having sex! All the women were way too pissed off to be having sex!
Okay, I'm totally exaggerating here, but....not really!
In other words, maybe polygamy is just communal living after all the other men bug out! (or get kicked out)
Please - this entire post is in jest. Don't take it seriously.
