I saw on the website that it's for ages 10-13 (grades 5-8). That's quite a range. My ds hasn't done much formal science but he does love science and hands-on activities.

The topics in Science 5 sound interesting. I think I wouldnt' get around to doing some of them if they weren't scheduled in for me.

Sonlight is truly designed to spread over a range of ages, and the ages they give are accurate in my experience even though I've stretched that a bit in our house. We've used lower-level programs with older kids by adding more reading, and higher-level programs where I expected less from my younger one.

Next year we'll be finishing Core 3 and going on to Core 4 for hist/lit with a 3rd and 6th grader, and doing Science 5 with them as well.

If you find Science 5 too light (I don't think you will), it's topics can be beefed up with library books and reports if need be.
