It is 84 degrees here right now and I just came inside from mowing the grass and generally cleaning up the yard. Then I poured a cup of cold water (straight out of the fridge) over my head. That sure felt good, but now I am hot again. :001_huh:

I just came in from doing yardwork and it is 94 degrees here. I just layed on the floor under the ceiling fan until I felt like I was human again.

We've been working outside the last two weekends. We just moved to a larger house with a larger yard. I had NO idea how much time this yard would take to keep up! It's beautiful (the previous owner was a master gardener), but time consuming. But, I'm finding that I actually like it! There's nothing like looking at your nicely manicured yard from the sidewalk and getting that sense of satisfaction. AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!
We also just painted all the trim on the front of the house. Next weekend it'll be the back yard trim. We'll also stain the back deck.
Oh - but here it's only in the 60s today. I think I'll have a different take on the yard when it's in the 90s!! LOL

Came inside, and a huge storm hit with high wind, thunder, and lightning. (I was trying to get the mowing done before it got here.) 10 minutes later and the mulched areas are buried in a half inch layer of hail; the sun is shining brightly. Dd is running around outside taking pictures. Crazy weather!

We worked in the yard all afternoon, but it was only 64 here and VERY windy. Also, I am frustrated because even though we worked really hard, this is the time of year when SO much still needs to be done. Well, back at it next weekend.:tongue_smilie:

We cleaned the garage today. That's a dirty job, but one that's so rewarding. It's only 65 here in SC (what's with the weird weather?), so I wouldn't say that I ever got hot -- just dusty and dirty. I feel for you, though. It won't be long before it's hot again, and the yard work will still need to be done (it has some nerve, doesn't it?).

Yesterday we put up a new above ground pool (old one died 2 winters ago).
Did I mention we have a side lot so the pool is partially dug into the ground AND we're retrofitting the new pool to the existing pool deck?
Oh, yeah...good times.
The kicker is I probably will never go in the thing. Oh well, hopefully DD and her friends will enjoy it.
It's chilly-ish in NJ but I'm not complaining. I'm enjoying the fact that we did not go from oil heat to window unit a/c as we normally do.

I have been doing yardwork for over a week. Everytime I go out there, I swear the yard gets bigger!;)
Today down vines from the back 1/2 acre of our property and my arms are so scratched and torn up that I look like I was attacked.
It is very gratifying to see your hard work paying off, isn't it? :001_smile:

Dh and I worked in our yard from 7:30 a.m. until about 3:30. We are exhausted. Together we layed/poured a concrete pad for our new hot tub. Then I mowed and dh weed-eated.
Sooooooo nice though to sit on the patio and enjoy the beautiful yard.

If you call it *gardening* you'll have more fun. :D
I'd rather mow (even in 100 degree heat, I'm in Texas, after all) than vacuum. ANY day.
I find whacking weeds to be great therapy. And as another poster said, I love looking at my pretty yard.
Have some Gatorade and a shower. Admire how fine a freshly mowed lawn looks. Sip a glass of wine on the porch at twilight.

I find yard work, I mean gardening, so much more satisfying than house work. When you are done in the yard it looks great and stays nice looking for a while. By the time I am finished cleaning one mess, another one has been made.

Usually by me, no less.
Exactly how I feel...and my house (and garden) shows it. ;)
