A friend of mine is having minor surgery and so I am watching her children today and wanted to take dinner over. But I don't have a clue about what to take. Any ideas or suggestions on what is good to take to someones house? Thanks.

I would say any kind of soup or casserole would be lovely. Chicken spaghetti/tetrazzini...something like that?? A casserole, a salad, some bread, and a pan of brownies would be great. Do you have a crockpot? This might be too late for today, but a roast in the crockpot with veggies is also good. I am really all about doing a kind of one-main-dish + salad + bread + dessert in this type of situation. Without knowing what you have on hand or if you can get to the store, I hate to be *TOO* specific!
Know that, whatever you take it will be greatly appreciated!

pasta or rice w/ chicken side
lasagna or baked ziti
salad and dessert (cookies, brownies)
I would actually stay away from casseroles, as not everyone eats them.
What a sweet friend you are to help during surgery and bring over dinner!

One of my favorites to bring over is chicken & dumplings. I use a really simple crockpot recipe that does all of the work for you (even the dumplings). It's great for children who are picky and also for the one recovering from surgery, as it follows the "soft diet". PM me if you would like the recipe.
