We have a Wii and my family bought me Sims Castaway after I got hooked on my daughter's My Sims from Christmas. I am totally addicted. Anyway, I know it is really a PC based game and that is where the most variety is. I'm just curious if anyone else plays and if you can give me some pointers on what the best ones to buy are.

You mean PC games, right?
Any of the Sims games actually. If you purchase Sims 2 and the expansion, better make sure your PC is up to snuff or else it will run very very very very very slowly (and I've got a top of the line at that). I love the Sims, but personally I am a ZooTycoon fanatic. I have ZT2 with all expansions and I love it. I've never really liked any of the sims/zootycoons on anything but PC.

My son has the Zoo Tycoon ones, but I didn't get into those........I like the human aspect of the Sims I guess.
Good to know about the graphics and stuff though..........thanks

Standing up and waiving my hand wildly...I play the Sims 2 with several, ok almost all, the expansion packs. I can't believe I just admitted that in public. lol. I am not so into the people aspect of it though. I like to decorate and build. The Sims is the dollhouse I never had and it beats the heck out of all the money I'd spend redecorating a real house all the time! Of course, I don't play the original game as is, I have added literally thousands of fan-made objects to the game for more variety. A good site for downloads is The Sims Resource. There are also many tutorials out there on how to play the game effectively as well as cheat codes and tips. Just do a search and you'll find tons.
Go for it. Get the Sims 2 and have fun. Yes, you do need to make sure your computer can handle the game and that your graphics card is up to snuff. You can check your system with this site: System Requirements Lab (http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest)

I love the Sims. I have all of them. Sims, Sims2 and the ones for DS and Wii.
I think I might have a problem. :o
"Seasons" is my favorite expasion. I like the little virtual gardens.
I like to make Sims of my favorite literary and chick lit characters. It makes for a very interesting neighborhood. One of my ladies is mourning the loss of her hubby. Stupid guy got himself burned up in a lightning storm and now he's haunting the place. As soon as he gets back in that grave I am sooooo selling his tombstone.

I once made Bob Ross and his home and studio. It was hysterical. That was back in Sims 1 days. I even made little replica paintings of his to hang on the walls. He was my fav Sims character ever. I miss Bob.
Seasons is awesome.
I like to torment, I mean involve, the family. Sometimes I make four copies of the same home in a neighborhood and we each (me, dh, dd, ds) decorate our own and then compare. It is very interesting to see the differences in the style of my family members.

My daughter is a Sims fanatic and has several expansion packs.
She made our family and very carefully set up their personalities and lo and behold, when left to their own devices they actually act like us!!
I would play Sims if our computer could handle it. My daughter has offered to let me come play on her computer, but her messy room freaks me out so I declined the invitation.
But when we upgrade to a better computer I am going to load it up with Sims for me!!

I play sims in spurts. I'll play every day for awhile and then won't touch it for six months or more. Now that I think about it, I think I play it more in the winter (I hate being outside in the cold) than in the summer. Probably because I'm cooped up in the house more. . . hmmm . . . must go play now, thanks A LOT!! :0)

My ds10 loves "SimCopter", "SimCity", "SimTown", "SimTower" . . . I like that these games give you a task (like build a environmentally friendly town (SimTown) or build and keep up a high-rise with all the varied businesses/uses in a high rise. I still monitor and limit screen time but I don't mind him playing these!

See my first post in this thread. There is a link to a site that will help you determine if your system can play the sims and if not what it is lacking.
