but I don't think I got a response (or maybe I forgot to check!) I would like to have my 2nd and 3rd grader in the same spelling next year just so that it would ease up on our schedule a bit. The 2nd grader is a natural speller and the 3rd grader has great difficulty spelling. If I put my 2nd grader in SWO D next year with the 3rd grader, will she miss too many spelling rules? She knows how to spell many words, and she has never even learned how to spell them. I'm schooling on 4 different grade levels, and it would just be easier to have them do spelling together. Thanks for the help!

So are they going to be in 3rd and 4th grade when you start the spelling program you're looking for?

In that case, Sequential Spelling may work for you. It's designed for 4th grade and up. Your 3rd grader should do fine with it since she's a natural speller

Megawords is another option, but that one is mostly independent, so you could have them working through the books at different speeds.

I'd try it :-) Good luck!

Have you seen Spelling Wisdom? The idea is to teach spelling through strategic dictation selections. Any missed words are their spelling lists for the week. I asked about it here not long ago and most said they were using this in addition to another program like SWO.

Here's the link if you are interested:

It might be a good fit when doing 2 together with different needs.

One of my dds is a natural speller. When we come across rules she says :"Ah" and smiles (probably thinking she knew this all along).:p
