My children are hs so they do not get speech fr the public school I was wondering what is speech for older children I have only seen it with small tykes.

Speech for older children should start where the child needs help, so for some it may start with basic articulation training and how to shape the mouth to form the basic words. That isn't so common these days because the general thrust is to start ST at an early age. However from there it can include deciphering sounds, expressive and receptive language, voice modulation and tone of voice and conversational skills and more. The last three items might not be covered in a public school setting because they're not considered essential for learning in school.
