National Gallery of Art prints

I was reading in Real Learning by Elizabeth Foss that she purchased 11x14 prints from different artists from the National Gallery of Art. Has anyone done this? I can't see how to do so on their website, and was wondering if the prints are no longer available or if I am just overlooking something.

If you use this resource for art appreciation, could you please let me know how you do it?

I checked it out and I see what you mean. Perhaps Mrs. Foss lives near D.C. and bought them in the gift shop. They do say that they have more to sell than they show on the website and that you can call them and order over the phone with the number they provide. I suppose that would only work if you knew exactly what you wanted without browsing first.

I used to work at the USDA one street over from the Mall near the National Gallery and have been in the gift shop numerous times. They really do have lots and lots of prints in all sizes for sale there. Maybe it is just logistically impossible for them to post them all on the website.

She did say that she lived near it. In the extra section where moms write their answers to her questions, another mom expanded on the idea. It sounded so great. Bummer. Oh, well. Maybe one day. :001_smile: Thanks for the help.

but I do know you can check out a lot of art history and appreciation videos from their education department. I ordered a catalog and then placed my orders for the whole year. They mailed things to me throughout the year, and my only expense was media mail postage to return it. I told them I was homeschooling and they gave me a nine month due date on several resource works.

Very nice - tax dollars have to be going to some use, right? ;)

What about posters at someplace like Hobby Lobby or Michaels? Probably not the quality of the prints, but they have 50% off sales quite often.

I'm almost 100% positive you can't get them online. I have some but I live in the DC area and the National Gallery is one of my favorite places.

Sorry. I don't know anything about her book/curriculum but I would have thought she would recommend where to get something you need that doesn't just come from one place in the nation.
