View Full Version : Are you lurking and not posting????

Ok, I was just curious to see how many people are registered, but have never posted, (if you go to members and click posts, it takes you from most to least) you can go to the last page to see where the people with 0 posts are. From page 28-50 are members that have two or less posts! So I'm curious if anyone is lurking and not posting?

I have been on the boards for many many many years - 5 or 6? I haven't been posting lately - but I do read often.

For these new boards this will be my second post.

So, I guess that makes me a semi-luker?

I've always lurked more than I've posted on the WTM boards.

I'm not purposely NOT posting. I am just posting rarely and not regularly. I'll have to post this to see what my total is up to.:)

Oh, I have 7. I'm in the big leagues. I guess I should have voted for the first option.

But, I am determined to post more often. I've lurked (and learned) for almost a year. Now that I'm more comfortable with what we're doing, I'm more comfortable posting... if that makes any sense. :o

I always seem to post in spurts then putter out and start back up again. The new board seems to coincide with one of my spurts. :D

I'm a poster, I want to share my opinion.:D

I only found the message boards a few weeks before the format change. I've learned TONS in that time!!

I try to post when I have something intelligent (okay, I'll settle for quasi-intelligent) to add.... which I guess hasn't been that often. :o I do have a lot of questions I'd like answered though... :D

My dc's are still little so I don't have much to add to a lot of the posts.

I am another person that tends to post in spurts.

With the old format, I only lurked. This is my second post. The first one was to do a swap!

I have been lurking lately and not posting as much. Before the boards changed I was not even lurking for quite awhile. The only reason I came back was to start my planning for next year. I'm happy with what we've been doing this year.

I have always lurked more than posted. How much I post always depends on how much time I have on a given day and on my interest in the topic. This is still true. But I think I sometimes "miss" threads in the new format.

I read far more posts then I respond to. Often times I have something to say but if the idea has already been stated then I stay quiet.

I definitely lurk more than I post. Sometimes I just can't find anything to add to what has already been said, so I tend to say nothing. :)

Since I still consider myself new to hs (only third year), I don't post often. Only when I feel confident and experienced enough to add my two cents. I have learned so much from the old boards. Now, I lurk/post even less with the new format. It is hard to find the time to keep up with all the posts, let alone post too. It was much easier on the old boards, including saving individual posts. The "friendly, in your living room, like you know everyone" feeling has disappeared.

I'm not posting nearly as much, probably due to the format change. But I read/lurk a lot. If I think I have something intelligent to add, I will. But either I'm not so intelligent anymore, or I'm missing the opportunities that are here!

I'm mostly lurking, but am posting every now and then. It's not that I *won't* post here, but I really miss the old boards. It's much harder for me to scan and see what I'm interested in reading here.

I mostly just read but I do post a little. My kids are still young so I usually don't have much to say. I'll probably post more once they are school age.

I just don't have that kind of time.
But I wish I did!
I can't even lurk as much as I'd like, never mind post.
You know, recently I have found myself more in need of help than able to help others.
I'm so thankful for the wisdom here.

I love to read the boards, but often don't feel like I have anything to contribute. I will post if I think I have something new or different to add.

I used to post a lot more than I have been lately. Still lurking, but even that seems to have thinned out. At the rate I'm going I may never acheive Nurse Bee!:p

I'm sorta lurking!

Some people have their controls set to 'invisible', too, and you can only tell they're on when they're posting. Which makes them pretty visible!

I'm keeping mine set to 'visible' so I don't cheat and get on here too much. It would be too easy to just sit and read all day, but I'd be embarrassed to have my name up there as online for hours. So I have to stay visible for my own accountability.

I tend to only post Wordless Wednesdays and Weekly Reports. I am more of a lurker. I tend to read everyone else's posts then if I can't find an answer to my question I will post. I have learned so much just by lurking!:)

If you're lurking and not posting, and you living in Arkansas, would you please post on the Arkansas thread on the networking board?

Here's the link:

http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1747

Pretty please??

I would love to know if there are others in AR who come to these boards frequently.

Thanks!!

and I rarely have questions these days because we have been homeschooling for such a long time.

I love coming to the message boards for three reasons.

1. To keep up on the latest materials. I have found the best materials through recommendations that posters have given.
2. For inspiration. I can't tell you how many times I have used an idea as a springboard to other ideas.
2. I like to know that I am not alone. I feel supported by reading and seeing that others are doing.

I do enjoy helping others and will post if I think I can be of some value. I only wish that in real life I could learn to keep my mouth shut and learn say only supportive and inspirational things. :)

shared on this board. I too only post when I feel I have something of value to add.

The ideas from the board have worked for us so often. I really like being able to see what is new and great.

I think everyone is willing to help in what ever area they can. I love that about this board.

I used to lurk, but with the format change I've been trying to post more. I always get a funny, awkward feeling when posting, like I'm the new kid in a school where EVERYBODY has known each other for years, and not only did I have the gall to say something, but my style is just totally not "it". I figure I'll keep working at it as interesting things come. Either I'll get the hang of it, or someone will tell me to bug off.

I lurk more than I post. I'm afraid if I ask a question it will be one that has been asked before. I love the information that I can get from here though.

I lurk much more than I post. I have found these forums to be an invaluable resource to me, esp in curriculum choices. I post when I can and when I feel I have something to add.
I probably look like I am online much more than I really am. I tend to walk away from the computer frequently to chase my little one around and just leave the page up that I was reading.

I would love to become a regular poster...I have many questions, and probably information to share as well. Truth be told, it is somewhat intimidating. I sure would love to become a larvae!
