Is this appropriate for my 17ds? I'm not so concerned about violence as I am about sexual content. Are there racy parts of this book?
Thanks very much!!!

Not sure if this will help, but my dh is teaching it in his hs high school, conservative, college bound, tutorial. I have not read it myself and could not comment on the content. I know he really likes the book.

That was a different era in bookwriting. The syntax of the book is challenging, but the plot is captivating. Both ds 14 and I liked it.

I just read this last year, and no, there's nothing objectionably racy in it at all. As a matter of fact, I ended up reading through it so quickly that I wasn't paying enough attention to minute details b/c it wasn't until the very end that I realized there was a "romantic interest" going on at all! LOL! (Talk about embarrassing... gotta slow down a little, there.)

A little romantic, maybe, but nothing more. Cooper is fairly safe reading all around.

No, I don't think there's anything to worry about at all. My boys have watched the movie version of this for years, as well as reading it in about seventh grade.
